Anang Wins 2020 VTTC Title

Emmanuel Anang defeated Selassie Setorwofia 2-0 to emerge champion in the Senior Men Category of the 2020 Vilcabamba Table Tennis Club (VTTC) Championship held at the Center for National Culture, Denu last Saturday.

 

The best of 3 sets played during the competition gave Anang the bragging rights, a cash prize, medal, certificate and a trophy after beating Selassie.

 

Jude Curtis Badasu and Frank Freedom placed 3rd and 4th respectively in the keenly contested category.

 

In other encounters, Millicent Ankude defended her title in the Ladies above 18 category after beating Abigail Haenyeame who was the 2019 winner of Ladies under 18 category. Valeria Gbogbo and Jemilatu Mensah placed 3rd and 4th respectively.

The Veterans Category saw Thomas Appiah display his unmatched skills which made him truimph over Michael Kpeku, Julius Amekpor and Francis Klutse.

The 2020 VTTC Championship put together by Hotel Vilcabamba and Micky Group Limited brought together 55 players all over Volta Region who showcased their spinning, smashing and looping skills.

 

Edwin Nutifafa Tetteh gave a dazzling show and clinched victory in the Cadet Boys Category to the admiration of patrons.

 

Mirinda Fiakeye, Anastasia Dosu and Richard Semaxa emerged winners in Cadet Girls, Ladies under 18 and Junior Boys respectively.

The Chairman of both VTTC and the Volta Regional Table Tennis Association, Thomas Kuenyefu expressed gratitude to sponsors and individuals who made the championship a success.

 

“I am glad our championship sees improvement every year which means VTTC is becoming stronger. I would like to thank our sponsors for their unflinching support”

 

He urged the players to continue working harder to earn more laurels for the club.
