Dr Emmanuel Adipa Adapoe , a governance expert, has described the promise made by the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, as very timely and important. In an interaction on Ho-based Global FM (the Global Morning Show) Dr. Adapoe mentioned that it was a good call which will go a long way to help reduce the rate of youth unemployment in the country .
Mr. John Mahama who made this call in Kpando during his tour of the Volta and Oti regions over the weekend. According to him, the issue of ‘Okada’ or commercial motorbike services was a stark reality that could not be wished away, however much one wanted to. Instead, the nation should rather consider legalizing the trade, in which case we can properly regulate it and ensure it operates within the scope of the law. Mr. Mahama has assured that his administration would do this. In addition, a next NDC administration will give extensive training to operators of these bikes so as to help minimize instances of accidents.
Reacting to the message, Dr. Emmanuel Adipa Adapoe hinted that the business, if well regulated as promised, will take away the recklessness of the riders and give sanity to the operation.
“if their operations is regulated ,they will be well insured which will go a long way to give protection to the riders and passengers,” he noted .
