Fix mistakes or I’m not part of scheme – Hecta

Volta Music Awards an initiative to Celebrate Volta’s Excellence is the topic for most headlines.

Hecta born Duse-Anthony Hector a hiplife/hip hop artiste uttered on Global Drive on #VMAMoments with Bright Ellis that he’s not part of this years Volta Music Awards unless things are rightly put in place.

Hecta who is nominated in 5 categories said he’s not campaigning for his slots. “I think I’ve worked hard if the VMAs is based on 3 years down the line. The region can testify, I don’t suffer when I go for shows, I have more the 15 songs that my people sing to it. Fans are surprised and want to go hard on organizers because things are not right. I am calming them down.

One can’t be nominated in the ‘Hiplife Song of Year’ and wont make the ‘Hiplife Artiste of The Year’ category. Others for nominated for ‘Hiplife Artiste Of The Year’ and they are not nominated for ‘Hiplife Song of The Year’ how?

More so, My AYELE song which I featured Yaa Pono on is the song of the streets and it didn’t make it to the ‘Best Collaboration of The Year’ category, I feel disrespected. If the organizers have done their research well, they should know AYELE is one of the biggest songs in the region. Nonetheless Volta Music Awards is giving reasons to peeps down here to push their talent and have something to work for.

Hecta continued, “During the seminars to lecture stakeholders prior to the nomination, I asked whether mixtapes will stand the chance to be nominated, organizers mentioned it WON’T be nominated because it’s not an original record but the categories are flooded with mixtapes”.

This is the maiden edition therefore we have no reason not to put things right in place. I foresee this award will call the likes of Edem, Mzvee, Manifest and others so it must match standards and have to be authentic, he fumed.

When asked whether he officially wrote to the board that he is not in the race, he said, ” No I haven’t done that. My publicist is working on a letter so we serve them”.

When advice by host Bright Ellis to ran the race regardless his problem with the scheme, he said “I will do that if the organizers officially apologizes to me”. However made it known he part ways with Vibes Town Record but got 2 set of albums ready in the studio for release.

Volta Music Awards is put together by Eventic GH and the main show is on 10th March 2018 at HTU Auditorium.
