Member of Parliament for the Agortime- Ziope constituency, Hon Charles Agbeve has commended Pencils of Promise for their support towards the people in his constituency.
The commendation came when the NGO constructed and handed over a two unit classroom block to the chiefs and people of Obemla in Agortime on Monday the 25th June, 2018.
The member of parliament was speaking to Global Morning Show could not hide his joy but was quick to add that, the only way that an organization will give out projects to communities is when the leaders of the community and the people within it shows support and interest towards the project.
The Member of Parliament urged all leaders of communities to show interest and should extend support to the communities by demonstrating to organizations that they are ready for the projects and also contribute towards it.
According to him, the assembly resources alone cannot do it all. Hence they rely on the benevolence of NGO’s such as the Pencils of Promise to improve on the education of the community. ‘’Once the community shows that support and communal spirit, aid will come to them” he added.
Touching on the performance of candidates for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), he revealed that to improve upon the story of the student’s B.E.C.E results, as measures for this year, they brought in some professional examiners to train teachers to educate their students on how to answer questions and he believes stories will change for the upcoming results.
Mr Agbeve re-echoed his priority is for the education of his people because that is the way forward and the foundation must be solid and that will help. He pledged his readiness to support the community on any challenge they may have.
