Next NDC government to set up Financial Services Authority – John Mahama

Leader and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, has hinted that, the next NDC government will establish a Financial Services Authority to sanitize Ghana’s financial and banking sector.

Delivering an address at the outdooring of the party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, on Monday July 27, 2020 John Mahama said when voted into power in the coming December 2020 elections, his administration will, within twelve months, pay all customers of collapsed banks and financial institutions whose funds have been locked up as a result of the collapse. He says his government will give special attention to settle all financial issues related to the those indigenous Ghanaian owned banks which have been collapsed under the Akuffo Addo led government.

“I pledge, on behalf of the NDC, that we shall pay, within one year, all who have funds locked up with the collapsed financial institutions. Within one year. I promise!” Mr Mahama said.

“I will establish a Financial Services Authority that will be responsible for ensuring that consumer financial markets work for consumers, providers and the economy as a whole,” he added.
