The Member of Parliament for Ho Central and the 2020 Parliamentary Candidate for the NDC, Hon. Benjamin Komla Kpodo, has waded into the new voters’ register debate. He has avered that the compilation of a new voters’ roll a few months to the general elections is a grand scheme by the Electoral Commission to disenfranchise voters within the stronghold of the NDC.
In an interaction on the Global Morning Show, Tuesday January 21, 2020 with host, Edudzi Randy Ahadzi, Hon. Kpodo cited the smooth deployment of the current register for the conduct of the recent District Level elections and for the referendum that created six new regions. He said these are sufficient grounds for all well-meaning citizens to rise and kick against what, according to him, is a subtle attempt by the Jean Mensah-led EC to create chaos at the polls later this year.
Touching on alleged perception of greed by party leadership that bedeviled the party in the run up to the 2016 elections, the MP said such assumption, however founded, is usually fueled by over-expectation.
He advised candidates contesting various elections to learn to manage expectation, especially on the campaign trail, so as not to breath life into such misgivings.
