The buzz and controversies surrounding the popular UN Kofi Annan Global Excellence Awards revealed to be fake has finally been confirmed. The awards, dubbed the 7th Global Leadership Service to Humanity Award purported to be from the United Nations has finally seen a reaction from Sarkodie after the news broke on social media that it was fake.
The award, given to several highly respected persons across the country, was uncovered by a some youngsters to be a false representation of what the awarder, Kwame Fordjour claimed it was. However, before then a tall list of high profile personalities had already received the award, including the former Vice-chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ebenezer Oduro, who received his several months ago.
Meanwhile, others who recently received the award, leading to the uncovering of the scam is Multiple BET Award winner, Sarkodie, Berla Mundi, Johnny Hughes, Nathanial Attoh, D Black, Natalie Fort, Captain Smart, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, NPP’s Chairman Wontumi and many others. However, Sarkodie, who has been a subject of social media trolls following the incident has finally reacted. The rapper took to his twitter handle to tweet that his colleague, Shatta Wale was the one who even called him to explain what was actually the case with the awards and the awarder, ridiculously called Dr UN on social media.
Moreover, Sarkodie further disclosed that he has now come to understand what the falsehood was all about. However, he went ahead to rubbish the trolls, stating that it’s now all bygones so let’s move on.
