Togolese international Wilson Akakpo has joined Iraqi top-flight side Al-Najaf FC on a year contract with an option to renew.
The centre-back contract with Egypt Premier League outfit Ittihad Alexandria came to an end after he didn’t extend his expired contract in 30 June 2020.
Akakpo enjoyed a loan spell at Saudi Arabia side Al-Shoalah FC for six months in 2019.
The center back who is a product of Hotsteel FC left Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League to join Al Masry SC in July 2014 before moving Ittihad four years later.
He has made two appearances for the Togolese senior national team.
Al-Najaf Football Club (Arabic: نادي النجف لكرة القدم) is an Iraqi football club based in Najaf. They are members of the Iraqi Premier League. Al-Najaf played in the 2007 AFC Champions League.
